Pelvic Pain can present in many forms. Your Doctor may have diagnosed you with; dyspareunia, vulvodynia, vaginismus, bladder pain syndrome or Interstitial Cystitis, urethral pain syndrome, endometriosis, pudendal neuralgia, levator ani spasm, post brachytherapy pain, coccyx pain or post operative pain.
We provide physiotherapy management of all these pain problems in conjunction with your Doctor and or clinical psychologist.
Treatments are planned following a comprehensive assessment of the impact of pain on your function and quality of life and a physical examination. Our goal is to reduce your pain and optimise your bladder, bowel and sexual function.
Many approaches are used for pain management however the mainstay of physiotherapy treatment is pelvic floor muscle downtraining/relaxation, EMG Biofeedback retraining, body awareness including breathing, relaxation, mindfulness and posture, manual therapy in the form of myofascial release, soft tissue massage, trigger point therapy, vaginal trainers / dilators and general pelvic & lower limb stretching exercises.
